Quality Education for Minorities Network launches inaugural STEM education conference to shift the national use of language in STEM Education. For decades STEM disciplines have adopted the use of “pipelines” to describe the intentionality of recruiting minoritized persons into STEM careers. The problem is this language reinforces commoditization of people who have historically been seen as commodities that can be sold or traded. With Nic Stone, author of Dear Martin and co-author to How to be a (Young) Antiracist, this conference will focus on techniques, strategies, and How-To’s on dismantling racism and injustice in the STEM disciplines. Pre-registration and on-site registration are available at: https://form.jotform.com/QEMNetwork/PtoP_conference-registration October 17-18, 2023.
