From Talented Innovation in Science Development Intern to QEM Staff

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Effective Today – Quality Education for Minorities (QEM) Network, has named Dr. Taylor Lightner as its new Research Associate and Program Coordinator. Dr. Lightner’s responsibilities will include identifying funding opportunities, developing grant proposals for submission to potential funders; and designing, developing, implementing, and directing projects.

Dr. Lightner will also take the lead in coordinating the Community of Practice activities. Established in 1990, QEM is a non-profit organization in Washington D.C., dedicated to improving education for minority students throughout the nation. Dr. Taylor Lightner has extensive experience with research development and preparing evaluation reports on programs.  Dr. Lightner holds a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Clemson University and an MEng and PhD in Engineering Education from Virginia Tech.

Established in 1990, the QEM Network is a non-profit organization in Washington, D.C., dedicated to improving education for minorities throughout the nation. It is the successor organization to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)-based QEM Project that was funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York. The QEM Network works with individuals, organizations, and institutions around the country to build equitable, inclusive, and rigorous educational experiences for groups traditionally underrepresented in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
